Wrongful Death -- Car-Truck Accident: Won $1.08 million wrongful death verdict for the family of a victim of a car-truck accident in Harrisonburg. The driver of a truck fell asleep, crossed the center line and collided head on with a car occupied by a businessman and his wife. The husband died in the crash and the wife suffered serious injuries.
Personal Injury -- Trucking Accident: One of our attorneys obtained $865,000 jury verdict for a woman with neck injuries resulting in surgery after a tractor-trailer hit her car on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County and dragged her vehicle a quarter mile before stopping.
Wrongful Death -- Plane Crash: Obtained $1,000,000 settlement for the family of a passenger killed in a small plane crash in Augusta County.The crash occurred when the pilot took off the wrong way on a grass runway and failed to clear trees during takeoff.
Wrongful Death -- Fire: Multi-million dollar settlement for the family of business guest who died in a fire.
Wrongful Death -- Plane Crash: CONFIDENTIAL: Obtained a policy limits settlement for the family of a passenger killed in a Shenandoah Valley plane crash.
Wrongful Death: One of our attorneys won a multi-million dollar jury verdict in a wrongful death case that was recognized as one of the top verdicts in Virginia for 2006.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident: Obtained a settlement of $775,000 on behalf of a client seriously injured in a car accident. The insurance company for the responsible party initially offered only $16,300 to settle.Through our efforts, we were able to convince the insurance company that this was a serious case that merited full and fair compensation for our client’s personal injuries.
Wrongful Death – Trucking Accident: Obtained a policy limits settlement for the family of a truck driver who died in an interstate crash caused by another truck driver who fell asleep, crossed the median and caused a head-on collision.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident -- Drunk Driving: Punitive Damages: Obtained $375,000 settlement against a drunk driver who was intoxicated at more than three times the legal limit when he crashed his vehicle into our client’s truck.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident: $300,000 settlement for a man who suffered a skull fracture in a rear-end collision in Harrisonburg.
Personal Injury -- Slip and Fall in Wal-Mart: Recently won a jury verdict in excess of $500,000 on behalf of our seriously injured client against Wal-Mart due to Wal-Mart's negligence in not removing an extension cord that was stretched across the entrance floor in one of its Supercenters.
Malicious Prosecution: Successfully defended a law enforcement official from accusations that garnered national media attention brought by Johnnie Cochran's New York law firm, Cochran, Neufeld & Scheck, LLP involving Earl Washington, Jr.
Personal Injury – Sliding door accident in grocery store: Successfully represented an elderly woman who was struck by a negligently maintained sliding door while entering a Harrisonburg grocery store.The motion sensor for the door was improperly adjusted and the door closed, striking and knocking to the floor a 75 year old patron who suffered a broken hip.The amount of the settlement is confidential.
Wrongful Death: Obtained a defense verdict for law enforcement officers after a highly publicized federal court jury trial involving allegations that an inmate's constitutional rights were violated when he was not prevented from committing suicide by hanging while incarcerated.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident -- Drunk Driving -- Punitive Damages: Obtained the insurance policy limits when a drunk driver, driving at three-times the legal limit drove into an intersection without looking, sending our client’s car crashing through a fence and into a family’s yard.

Wrongful Death and Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident – Cell Phone: Obtained a policy limits settlement for a family involved in a major crash caused by a teenage driver in an SUV who was distracted while talking on her cell phone, ran a red light and t-boned the clients’ compact car.The husband/father died and the mother/wife received serious and life threatening injuries.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident: Obtained settlement of more than $100,000 when a driver of a pick-up truck t-boned our client, driving her vehicle into the embankment and into a tree.
Will Contest: Won a jury verdict that overturned the will of our clients’ father, who signed a new will shortly before his death, leaving the bulk of his estate to his new wife and her children.
Will Contest: Successfully settled the claim of a stepdaughter in a will contest. After the client’s mother died, her stepfather signed a new will leaving the bulk of his estate to his stockbroker and his housekeeper.
Land Use -- Green Technology -- Appeals: Successfully defended the developer of Virginia's first commercial wind farm from multiple lawsuits filed by opponents to the project, including winning three appeals to the Virginia Supreme Court resulting in the Supreme Court's opinion in Miller v. Highland County.
Consumer Protection -- Unlawful Debt Collection: Obtained a judgment for $34,193 for our client against a debt collection company for the unlawful collection of a $16 debt.
Consumer Protection -- Used Cars: Obtained a judgment of $47,438 for his client against a used car dealership for the fraudulent sale of a $3,500 van.
Personal Injury -- Automobile Accident, Jury Trial: Obtained jury verdict ten times medical expenses for person rear ended in automobile crash in Charlottesville, Virginia.
